Part of PharmaSUG is giving something back to the community in which our conference is being held. For 2024, we are supporting two organizations with different areas of impact. Founded in 2020, Nvolve is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the participation of college women in technology, engineering, life sciences, and health careers. The second organization is the Smith Center for Healing and the Arts, which develops and promotes healing practices that explore physical, emotional, and mental resources leading to life-affirming changes for people affected by cancer.. You can read more about both organizations below.

nVolve

At Nvolve, we believe that every woman should have an equal opportunity to succeed in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. We have implemented practices that clarify career paths, develop technical skills, and facilitate career advancement - aimed at reducing female STEM attrition at key junctures of education, hiring, and professional development. We aim to break down barriers, build a supportive community, and provide access to valuable resources to help female college students reach their full potential. Nvolve Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the participation of women in STEM fields.

Our selective community of fully-volunteer leadership, mentors, and coaches empowers college women to overcome gender, racial and socioeconomic barriers to STEM fields and professional success. In collaboration with academic and industry partners, Nvolve uses unique approaches to mentoring, professional skill-building, and experiential learning to prepare college women for successful STEM careers. Our program engages STEM students throughout the academic year -- providing them with a window into the real-world ways of working. To learn more about our program, please download our flyer, or visit us at www.NvolveMe.org.

Smith Center for Healing and the Arts

Founded in 1996, Smith Center for Healing and the Arts (formerly Smith Farm) is a Washington, DC-based nonprofit health, education, and arts organization. Our mission is to develop and promote healing practices that explore physical, emotional, and mental wellness and lead to life-affirming changes. We offer programs for the community and specialize in serving people with cancer and utilizing the arts in healing. Our work at Smith Center is to help ‘create the conditions for healing’ through support, community, and providing tools and techniques that promote healing. We believe that everyone harbors innate capacities for healing. We believe that healing is always possible even when curing is not.

Our major focuses include cancer programs, patient navigation, and arts and healing. Smith Center has become a leader in the nationwide movement to promote the use of the arts in healing. We do this through programs and exhibitions at the Joan Hisaoka Healing Arts Gallery and by developing and sharing a range of innovative programs and initiatives in the community and across the nation. Smith Center was recognized by the 2022-2023 Catalogue for Philanthropy as one of the best small charities in the region. Visit our website for more information.
