Why was it decided to cancel the PharmaSUG 2020 Annual Conference?

The SARS-COV-2 virus, also known as Coronavirus, has caused the cancellation of numerous events across the nation. Many of the companies who participate in PharmaSUG are also curtailing travel through the end of May out of concern for the health and safety of their employees. Rather than conduct a smaller conference where those who attend may also put their health at risk, we chose to cancel the PharmaSUG 2020 Conference in San Francisco, CA.

This was a difficult decision but one which the Executive Committee made unanimously out of concern for our attendees. One option considered was to attempt a conference later in the year; however there is too much risk that the pandemic may not be over at that time. Again, the health and welfare of our attendees is of primary concern for us.

Will PharmaSUG 2020 be rescheduled to another date?

At this time we are not making plans to reschedule the PharmaSUG 2020 conference. Instead, we will focus on our slate of fall single-day events and the PharmaSUG 2021 U.S. conference in Baltimore, MD.

What other in-person events will PharmaSUG be hosting in 2020?

PharmaSUG currently has the following events scheduled around the world. We are continually looking for opportunity to promote the in-person sharing of content. Please join our mailing list to ensure you have the most up-to-date information due to the pandemic.

How will PharmaSUG 2020 registration fees be refunded?

All attendees who were registered as of March 19, 2020, and have paid their registration fees will receive refunds according to their payment information on file. If you paid for your registration with a credit card, the same credit card will receive a credit for the full amount that you paid. If you paid by check, you will receive a check by mail in the next 8 weeks for the amount paid. The refund will be processed automatically - there is no need for you to request it.

What should I do with my travel arrangements?

You are responsible for cancelling any travel arrangements you made for the event. You should contact the hotel immediately to inform them of your cancellation. If applicable, you should also contact your airline to cancel or rebook your flight. Regrettably, PharmaSUG cannot cover any penalties or fees associated with such cancellations or rebookings.

Will proceedings still be available for download?

Yes- the proceedings will still be available for downloading in mid-May.

Will PharmaSUG be hosting any virtual events?

Many authors have agreed to record their presentations, and we will be presenting those recordings, along with live Q&A sessions, via a series of webinars over the next few months. Please see our Webinar Schedule for more details.

Are authors still expected to submit their papers?

If authors would like their papers published, they will need to submit their final paper and copyright grant form.

Are final papers and copyright grant forms still due by the original March 27 deadline?

If you need additional time to finish your submission, contact your section chair and let them know. It should not be a problem. The section chairs are still going to review the submissions for content and completeness. Since we do not want to overburden them, you will have to let them know and provide a date in the near future that works with their schedule.

What does this mean for my scholarship award?

If you received a 2020 Student or JP scholarship and accepted it by registering for the conference, your name will be at the top of the list for next year should you decide to reapply. Your $50 registration fee will be refunded to you, but you will need to cancel your hotel registration yourself.

What does this mean for my sponsorship?

The PharmaSUG Marketing Committee will be contacting all sponsors to discuss options for their sponsorship with the conference. This will be conducted over the next few weeks.
