Date and time values are widely used in clinical trial data for computing duration, cumulative time, and for windowing issues. Partial or incomplete dates in the raw data and the wide variation of formats across countries are issues that arise when working with such data. Additionally, imputation of missing values and case report form design are inextricably tied to date problems. This paper discusses ways to overcome these problems using SAS functions, formats, data step statements, and some good old fas hioned common sense.
