Java Application Development for Analyzing Clinical Pharmacogenomics Data

Genaissance Pharmaceuticals has developed its proprietary HAPTM technology for establishing the complicated relationships between genomic patterns present in the human population and clinical data. The sophisticated Java-based software available at Genaiss ance, the DecoGenTM Platform, has demonstrated its power to accomplish analyses in which huge genomic analysis data are involved. With the recent progress in the development of Java-based products such as AppDev StudioTM, the computing power of SAS system can be remotely accessed via Java clients. This paper describes major issues associated with Java-based software integrated seamlessly with SAS so that detailed statistical analyses and related data manipulation can be pushed to the SAS server. Topics and examples presented will include how pharmacogenomics analysis data and PROCs can be dynamically issued from Java clients to the SAS server.
