How are we doing? The importance of metrics and standard practices in in clincial data management and biostatistics.

Kent Letourneau, PRA International

Assessing how well you are doing on a given process can be described as 3 steps process. First you must determine what is most attributes of your process are most important. Second you must come up with quantitative measurements that will describe numeric ally these attributes. Finally you must define some standard practices that can be used for comparison to determine if your process is achieving the attributes that you desire. This paper will go through this 3-step process and attempt to define what are the important items, metrics and standard practice for clinical data management (and biostatistics).
